Teen charged after Wilmington officer injured

WILMINGTON, DELAWARE (12/14/2014) A 17-year-old boy was charged with assault and resisting arrest after a city police officer was injured during a struggle while investigating a domestic dispute. The 33-year-old officer, who was not named, suffered several leg fractures.

The incident happened about 8:40 p.m.Thursday in the 2600 block of Thatcher St.

Police said the teenager became disorderly and attempted to harm another family member, and the officer intervened.

The officer, a 9-year veteran of the force, was taken to Wilmington Hospital, where he was treated and released.

The teen was taken into custody without incident. Bail was set at $3,900 secured.
