DOVER/SMYRNA, DELAWARE (12/3/2014) A 27-year-old Smyrna man was arrested Tuesday and charged in connection with two recent burglaries at homes in Dover, police reported today.

Dover police said Christopher Evans was taken into custody at his place of employment on Glenwood Avenue in Smyrna without incident.

The first burglary happened just before 1 p.m. Sunday in the 800 block of Bacon Ave., where a rear window was broken and jewelry taken.  A witness told officers who responded to an alarm that a white Honda accord had been in the driveway that didn’t belong to the homeowner.

About an hour later, the rear window of a home in the 100 block of Bacon Ave. was shattered and the residence ransacked in an attempt to find valuables, police said.  A witness confronted the burglar and took a photo of him and his vehicle — a white Honda Accord with a Delaware tag.

Police said they used the information from witnesses to identify Evans, who they said also was a suspect in a Smyrna burglary.

Evans was charged with burglary and related counts and secured bond was set at $22,500.
