Heroin seized after Wilmington chase, crash

WILMINGTON, DELAWARE (11/26/2014) A 28-year-old man is in custody after a domestic dispute in Wilmington was followed by a police chase, a traffic accident and the seizure of 390 bags of heroin, city police said early today.

The incident began in the 800  block of N. Jefferson St. just before 10 a.m. Monday, where the domestic dispute had been reported with a man possibly armed with a gun fleeing in a vehicle.

Police soon spotted the vehicle and attempted to stop it near 11th and North Jefferson, but the driver refused to stop.

As police pursued the vehicle, the driver, identified as Gary Bell of Wilmington, had a minor collision in the 600 block of W. 10th Stl, police said.

Bell then fled on foot and was captured in the rear yards in the 900 block of N. Madison St.

Police said no gun was found but they later seized the heroin at the home where the incident began.

Bell was charged with unlawful imprisonment, aggravated menacing, endangering th, intent to deliver heroin, offensive touching and traffic counts, police said.

He was being held at Young Correctional Institution in Wilmington in lieu of $75,000 cash bail.
