NEW CASTLE COUNTY, DELAWARE (11/26/2014) County police are warning residents to watch out for thieves taking packages left at your home as the holidays approach.
Police offered these tips to keep packages safe:
- Require a signature confirmation of delivery.
- Provide delivery instructions so packages can be left out of
sight from your yard or the road. - Take advantage of delivery alerts and ask a trusted neighbor to
pick up a package when it arrives. - Consider having your packages delivered to an address where
someone is home, such as a neighbor or relative. - Local store pick-up is another alternative.
Police said thieves often follow delivery trucks to homes that are unoccupied during the day.
