BEAR, DELAWARE (11/25/2014) New Castle County police have arrested three teenagers in connection with two robberies in Bear, police announced this morning.
The robberies happened Tuesday in the area of Rivers End Drive and Newton Place.
The first robbery happened in the 500 block of Blackbird Drive. A 14-year-old walking in the area was approached by the three teens later charged, police said.
The victim told officers he was held down while they removed his cellphone. He tried to chase the 17-year-old but stopped when what appeared to be a small handgun was pointed at him.
About 7 p.m. Tuesday, police said, the three teens tried to pay a pizza delivery driver with counterfeit money in the 100 block of Newtown Place, then grabbed the food and ran.
Police said a witness report and evidence found in the 100 block of Mendel Place led to the arrest of the three teens.
The 17-year-old was being held at the New Castle County Detention Center in lieu of bail.
One of the two younger suspects was released on bail and the other was awaiting arraignment.
