NEW CASTLE, DELAWARE (11/20/2014) A 46-year-old homeless man is being sought by Delaware State Police in connection with eight business robberies or attempted robberies in northern New Castle County since Saturday, including a bank robbery on Basin Road on Wednesday.
The PNC Bank branch at 1 E. Basin Road (Del. 141) was hit about 9:50 a.m.
Police say John A. Taylor, believed to be from New Castle or the Browntown or Hedgeville areas of Wilmington, approached a female teller and demanded cash. She turned over an undisclosed amount and the robber fled.
Police said no one in the bank was hurt.
Taylor was described as 5-feet-11 and about 160 pounds, with brown hair and brown eyes. He may be driving a gold 1999 Chevrolet Cavalier with Delaware tag 305854.
Police said Taylor also is believed to have been involved in robberies or attempts at these businesses:
- Wawa, 1515 N DuPont Highway, Saturday at 7:20 p.m.
- DOT Discount, 1422 N DuPont Highway, Sunday at 9:50 a.m.
- Great Cuts, 1610 W, Newport Pike, Monday at 12:05 p.m.
- Wawa, 2030 Limestone Road, Monday at 12:10 p.m.
- Rainbow, 16 Penn Mart Center, Monday at 2:45 p.m.
- Wawa, 1100 Pulaski Highway, Monday at 3:30 p.m.
- Dollar Tree, 287 Christiana Road, Monday at 3:30 p.m.
Police asked that anyone knowing where Taylor is call 911.
