WILMINGTON, DELAWARE (6/10/2015) Three teenagers were arrested after a gun was fired during the robbery of several juveniles in Canby Park west of Wilmington, Delaware State Police reported today.
The incident happened just after noon on Monday along the railroad tracks about .2 mile north of Maryland Avenue, where several teens had gathered and were playing and talking.
Three others arrived and one of them, Zamyr Garcia, 15, of Wilmington, showed a .38 caliber handgun and demanded cash and cellphones from the teens, police said.
Several of the teens fled but four remained and a second suspect, Troy Harvin, 17, of Wilmington, asked Garcia for the gun. He turned it over to Harvin, who police said fired a single round. The four victims then turned over cash and cellphones and Harvin, Garcia and a third suspect identified as Dajour Bailey, 19, of Wilmington, fled, police said. There were no injuries.
Wilmington police located Garcia hiding in a portable toilet in the park along with the handgun, state police said.
Harvin and Bailey also were taken into custody by Wilmington officers and turned over to state troopers.
The handgun was reported stolen in Wilmington in 2008.
Garcia, Harvin and Bailey were each charged with robbery, reckless endangering, conspiracy and possession of a deadly weapon by a person prohibited and during a felony.
Cash bail was set at $275,000 for Garcia and $329,000 for Harvin. Both were being held at the New Castle County Detention Center.
Bailey was being held at Young Correctional Center in lieu of $326,000 secured bail.
