UPDATED STORY: Police identify woman killed in crash

GEORGETOWN, DELAWARE (5/30/2015) A 48-year-old woman died this morning and a man was critically injured in a two-vehicle collision north of Georgetown, Delaware State Police said.

The crash at Savannah and Wilson roads about 11:30 a.m. involved a 2009 Hummer H3 and a 2006 Cadillac DTS.

Police said the Cadillac, being driven by Gary L. Levis, 50, of Bridgeville, was eastbound on Wilson Road.

The Hummer, driven by Austin W. Buckingham, 24, of Millsboro, was northbound on Savannah and failed to stop at the stop sign, striking the passenger side of the Hummer.

Both vehicles spun around and went off the northeast corner of the intersection and overturned on the left side, police said.

The woman killed was a passenger in the Cadillac. She was pronounced dead at the scene. Police withheld her name pending notification of next of kin.

Buckingham was taken by ambulance to Beebe Healthcare’s hospital in Lewes, treated and released.

Levis was initially taken by ambulance to Beebe Healthcare, then flown by LifeNet to Christiana Hospital in Stanton and admitted in critical condition, police said.

Police are still investigating and no charges have been filed.

The intersection was closed about four hours.
