HARRINGTON, DELAWARE (4/13/2015) A 36-year-old woman was arrested after selling fake gold bars to a pawn shop for more than $16,000, Harrington police reported today.

Rachel M. Zerbe, of the 600 block of Cow Marsh Creek Road west of Woodside, was charged with two counts of theft by false pretense over $1,500 and one count of attempted theft by false pretense over $1,500.

Lt. Earl Brode said the pawn shop’s owner reported Zerbe had sold what appeared to be gold bars on March 24 and 25, but later tests showed they were fake.

She was arrested when she returned to the store April 1 in an attempt to sell more fake gold bars, Brode said.

Zerbe was released on $6,000 bail.
