UPDATE: 2 plead guilty in church arson
FELTON, DELAWARE (12/9/2014) Two men have been charged with setting three fires at churches in the Felton area last week, officials reported late Monday.
State fire marshal deputies arrested Alex J. Harrington Jr., 26, in the High Point Mobile Home Park on Monday afternoon.
At the same time, other deputies arrested Joseph Skochelak, 25, in a Dover apartment complex.
Both were charged with three counts of arson, burglary and conspiracy in connection with the Dec. 2 fires at Healing Hands Christian Church, Manship Chapel, and the Laws Mennonite Church. Healing Hands was destroyed and the other two were damaged.
The two men were being held at Vaughn Correctional Center in lieu of $30,000 cash bond each.
Michael Chionchio, assistant state fire marshal, said the investigation was a result of a cooperative effort of the Delaware State Fire Marshal’s office, the Delaware State Police, the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives, and the FBI.
