3 seriously hurt in Middletown rollover crash

MIDDLETOWN, DELAWARE (1/3/2015) Three people were seriously injured Friday in a two-vehicle crash at Middletown Warwick and Peterson roads, authorities said.

The accident happened about 5:30 p.m. and one of the vehicles overturned, said Sgt. Michael McColley of New Castle County paramedics.

All of the occupants were able to get out of the vehicles on their own before paramedics arrived, he said.

A 49-year-old man was flown to Christiana Hospital in Stanton by state police helicopter. He had leg, hip, chest and back injuries.

A 5-year-old girl with a possible head injury was taken to Nemours/A.I. DuPont Children’s Hospital in Rockland .

An 18-year-old man, who was in the vehicle that rolled over, suffered head, chest and back injuries. He was taken by paramedics and Volunteer Hose Company ambulance to Christiana Hospital.

All three were in serious but stable condition, McColley said.

Middletown police are investigating the crash.
