Papa John’s near New Castle robbed at gunpoint

NEW CASTLE, DELAWARE (12/31/2014) Two young men with scarves covering their faces robbed a Papa John’s Pizza restaurant near New Castle, state police said today.

The robbery happened about 10:15 p.m. Tuesday at 529 E. Basin Road (Route 141).

Police said one robber, armed with a handgun, demanded money from a 24-year-old male employee, who handed over cash from the register as the second robber watched.

The robbers then fled. The employee was not hurt.

The robbers were both about 17-20 years old, police said. The one with the gun was about 5-feet-7 to 5-feet-9 and 150-170 pounds. He was wearing a black hooded sweatshirt and black T-shirt.

The other was 5-feet to 5-feet-7 and and 150-170 pounds. He was wearing a black sweatshirt.
