Carjacking suspect arrested in Smyrna

SMYRNA, DELAWARE (12/29/2014) A carjacking suspect was arrested Sunday night in Smyrna and the car taken earlier in the day recovered, town police reported.

Ezekiel Sullivan, 21, of the 100 block of N. Delaware St. in Smyrna,was arrested on foot about 6 p.m. in the area of the Smyrna Mart and the victim’s vehicle recovered and returned, Cpl. Brandon Dunning said.

Dunning said Sullivan had taken the car after confronting a 19-year-old woman who was a former girlfriend at the McDonald’s restaurant where she worked at 333 N. DuPont Blvd.

The two went out to where her car was parked and they fought over the woman’s car keys, Dunning said.

“The suspect snatched the keys out of the hands of the victim and entered the driver’s seat of the 2004 Honda Civic and against the wishes of the victim took the car and departed the parking lot,” Dunning said.

Sullivan was being held at Vaughn Correctional Center near Smyrna in lieu of  $10,500 secured bond after being charged with carjacking and offensive touching.
