Woman, 26, seriously injured in I-95 ramp crash

CHRISTIANA, DELAWARE (10/12/2015) A 26-year-old woman was seriously injured when a vehicle crashed into a tree at the Interstate 95 southbound off-ramp to Route 273 (Christiana Road), authorities said.

The accident happened about 1 a.m. Sunday.

The driver told emergency responders she climbed from the vehicle on her own after the collision, which caused heavy front-end damage, paramedics Sgt. Michael A. McColley said.

She was treated by paramedics for possible internal injuries and taken to Christiana Hospital in Stanton by Christiana Fire Company ambulance.

Another person was taken to the hospital by ambulance for evaluation, McColley said.

Delaware State Police are investigating the crash.
