DOVER, DELAWARE (8/5/2016) A 33-year-old man has been indicted in a 2009 cold case murder, Dover police announced today.
Larry Pierce was indicted on a first-degree murder charge in the shooting death of 23-year-old Josue Barclay, who was found lying in front of 17 S. Governors Ave. on April 18, 2009. Police said he died of a gunshot wound to the back of his head sometime between 6 a.m. and 7:30 a.m.
On April 26, 2009, Pierce was arrested after Dover officers stopped a vehicle in the 1400 block of N. DuPont Highway and two handguns were thrown, with Pierce and two other men fleeing on foot.
Through further investigation, police said, they learned that the shell casing from the shooting matched a handgun recovered during the April 26 incident.
Police said they uncovered additional evidence over the past seven years that led to the indictment of Pierce.
Pierce is being held in a federal prison on unrelated charges and will face extradition to Delaware, police said.
