MILLTOWN, DELAWARE (6/2/2016) A Valero clerk fought with a man trying to rob the business in Milltown and he fled empty-handed, the Delaware State Police reported today.
The crime happened shortly before 2 a.m. Wednesday at 1327 McKennans Church Road, off Limestone Road (Route 7).
Police said the male clerk was behind the counter when the robber approached, demanding money and cigarettes. The robber then implied he was armed and repeated his demands, then when the clerk refused the robber tried to remove the register. The two then struggled and the robber fled in a red vehicle without any loot.
The clerk suffered minor injuries but declined treatment, police said.
The robber was described as black, 5-feet-10 to 6 feet and 230-250 pounds. He had black hair and brown eyes and was wearing a white t-shirt, dark shorts, dark sneakers and a baseball cap.
