Vehicle recovered after Bear carjacking, crash

BEAR, DELAWARE (5/16/2016) A carjacking that began in Bear ended when the vehicle hit a guardrail on an Interstate 495 ramp in Wilmington, the New Castle County police said tonight.

The carjacking happened about 11:10 p.m. in the 100 block of Three Rivers Drive in the Wellington Woods community.

A 34-year-old woman had parked in her driveway, removed some items from the trunk and was walking to her door when two men ordered her to the ground, Cpl. Tracey Duffy said.

They took her cellphone and then fled in her green Honda Accord, Duffy said.

The car was recovered just before 3 a.m. Monday on the 12th Street ramp to I-495 in Wilmington, where it had hit the guardrail, damaging the car.

The carjackers were described as black and about 20 years old. One was 5-feet-2, 165 pounds with stocky build and facial har. He was wearing a dark hooded sweatshirt.

The other was 6-feet-1 with thin build. He was wearing a dark hooded sweatshirt and jeans.
