DOVER, DELAWARE (12/24/2015) A pedestrian was seriously injured when struck by a car Wednesday night, Dover police said this morning.
The accident happened about 7 p.m. in the 600 block of South State St., in front of Bayhealth Kent General Hospital.
The 58-year-old victim was crossing toward Scull Terrace when struck by a 2015 Ford Fusion, Master Cpl. Mark Hoffman said.
The victim was taken to the hospital nearby and later transferred to Christiana Hospital in Stanton with injuries including multiple pelvic fractures, broken ribs and internal bleeding.
Speed was not believed to be a factor, Hoffman said, but the driver was cited with inattentive driving causing serious physical injury, failure to yield to pedestrians in a crosswalk and failure to possess a valid insurance card. The driver’s name was not released.
