GLASGOW, DELAWARE (12/10/2015) A car burst into flames after it went off a road and crashed into a high-tension electric tower along the Delaware-Maryland line this morning, according to reports from the scene.
The accident happened about 10:20 a.m. on Rosetree Lane in the Rosetree Hunt development, just east of the state line.
The driver, a 40-year-old man, escaped from the wreckage and walked to his home nearby.
New Castle County police said the driver reported he had had a medical issue which may have contributed to the crash.
He was cited by police with leaving the scene of a personal injury accident and failing to report a collision to police, Cpl. Tom Jackson said.
Firefighters from Aetna Hose, Hook & Ladder Company extinguished the flames.
Delmarva Power crews were on the scene checking for damage to the tower.
