GLASGOW, DELAWARE (12/6/2015) A 30-year-old woman working at a construction site was seriously injured today when she fell from the roof of a building, authorities said.
Th incident happened about 1:26 p.m. in the 2400 block of Pulaski Highway (U.S. 40).
The woman fell about 15 feet from the interior top of the building, where trusses were being placed above the second floor, said Senior Cpl. Abigail E. Haas of New Castle County paramedics.
“Due to the fact the building was under construction, no permanent stairways were in place and the patient needed to be removed with the assistance of ground ladders and ropes, by firefighters from Aetna Hose Hook and Ladder Company and the Christiana Fire Company,” said Haas.
The woman was treated at the scene for head and upper extremity injuries, then flown by Delaware State Police helicopter to Christiana Hospital in Stanton. She was in serious but stable condition, Haas said.
