BRIDGEVILLE, DELAWARE (11/20/2015) A 43-year-old Seaford woman was killed early today when she was ejected from a car that went out of control, struck a pole and overturned east of Bridgeville, the Delaware State Police said. Another woman was injured.
The crash happened about 12:10 a.m. on a moderate curve on Redden Road just west of Chaplains Chapel Road.
The woman killed was identified as Sandra L. Wroten.
Wroten was a passenger in a 2007 Ford Mustang that was eastbound.
The driver, Susan Patten-Lorenzo, 45, of Seaford, lost control of the car and it crossed the westbound lane, spun around and hit a utility pole with the right rear of the car before it overturned, police said.
Wroten, who was in the right-front passenger seat, was ejected before the car came to rest on its roof.
Both women were wearing seat belts, police said.
Wroten was pronounced dead at the scene.
Patten-Lorenzo was taken by ambulance to Nanticoke Memorial Hospital in Seaford, treated for injuries and released.
Police said alcohol is believed to be a factor and charges are pending.
Redden Road was closed about 3.5 hours as police investigated and the wreckage was cleared.
