NEWPORT, DELAWARE (11/19/2015) Six people were injured this evening in a two-vehicle crash in Newport, according to reports from the scene.

The broadside accident involving a car and a small SUV happened shortly before 5:30 at East Justis and North Marshal streets.

After the collision, the car jumped a sidewalk and ended up in the parking lot of the M&T Bank under the Route 141 overpass.

The injured – four adults and two children –  were taken by ambulances to Christiana Hospital in Stanton.

Justis and Marshal streets were closed, jamming traffic in the area, as firefighters and medical personnel treated the injured and Newport police investigated the accident.

Minquas of Newport firefighters responded as well as ambulances from several fire companies, including Five Points, Elsmere and Belvedere.
