BLADES, DELAWARE (10/31/2015) A Seaford man was charged with his fifth DUI after he failed to slow or move over for an emergency vehicle south of Blades, Delaware State Police said.
The incident happened about 10:50 p.m. as a trooper conducted a traffic stop on northbound Seaford Road (Alternate U.S. 13) just north of Easter Lane.
As the trooper exited his patrol car, police said, a northbound Ford Ranger pickup passed within two feet and didn’t move over even though there was no oncoming traffic on the two-lane road.
The trooper abandoned the initial traffic stop and caught up with the Ford Ranger and stopped it on Johnson Road just west of Seaford Road.
Police said the trooper then smelled an alcohol odor from the driver, identified as Willie L. Davis, 42.
He was charged with the fifth driving under the influence of alcohol as well as driving while suspended or revoked and failure to reduce speed or move over for emergency vehicles. Davis was being held at Sussex Correctional Institution near Georgetown in lieu of $6,650 cash bond.
Police said his previous DUI arrests were on 4/26/02, 5/25/04, 5/10/13 and 5/17/13.
