MILFORD, DELAWARE (10/31/2015) An argument that began over the phone escalated to violence with one man bashing a car with a crowbar and the other firing multiple gunshots into a home, Milford police said today.
The incident happened just after 2 a.m. in the 100 block of West st.
Milford police said Eric A. Harris, 41, of Lincoln, went to a home there after arguing on the phone with Joseynazio “Jose” Colombo, 28, of Milford.
As Harris arrived and exited his vehicle, Detective Dwight Young said, Colombo came out of the home armed with a crowbar and attempted to hit Harris with it several times.
Columbo then smashed out all the windows in Harris’ vehicle with the crowbar, Young said.
As Columbo went back into the home, Harris obtained a shotgun from his vehicle and fired shots into the windows of the residence, Young said.
The gunshots struck numerous items inside the home but none of the people inside were injured, he said.
Young said there were 11 people inside, with five of them children ranging in age from 8 months to 17 years old.
Harris attempted to hide the shotgun in a nearby yard but it was located by a Milford police K-9, Young said.
Colombo was charged with aggravated menacing and criminal mischief over $1,000 but less than $5,000. He was being held at Sussex Correctional Institution near Georgetown in lieu of $3,000 secured bond.
Harris was charged with 11 counts of reckless endangering, five counts of endangering the welfare of a child, possession of a firearm during commission of a felony, possession of a deadly weapon by a person prohibited and criminal mischief over $1,000 but less than $5,000. Young said Harris also was wanted on warrants out of several courts. He was being held at Sussex Correctional in lieu of $57,000 secured bond.
