5 taken to hospital after Glasgow house fire

GLASGOW, DELAWARE (5/31/2015) Five people were taken to a hospital for evaluation after fire heavily damaged a home in the Lexington Farms community, authorities said.

The fire broke out just before 3 a.m. in the 100 block of Clear Creek Drive.

Firefighters from Volunteer Hose Company of Middletown responded as well as others from Christiana, Aetna Hose, Hook & Ladder, Port Penn and Delaware City.

The five occupants – a 44-year-old man, 40-year-old woman, two 7-year-old boys and a 5-year-old girl – were able to get out on their own, said Cpl. Abigail Haas of New Castle County paramedics.

They appeared to be uninjured but were taken to Christiana Hospital in Stanton for further evaluation, she said.

The blaze is being investigated by the state Fire Marshal’s Office.
