Fire heavily damages greenhouse

CHESWOLD, DELAWARE (4/12/2015) A fire heavily damaged a greenhouse west of Cheswold, authorities said.

The fire at Broadmeadow Farms was reported about 4 p.m. Saturday in the 3000 block of Seven Hickories Road.

The blaze began when a faulty appliance inside the greenhouse ignited nearby combustibles, said Michael Chionchio, assistant state fire marshal. The cause was ruled accidental.

He said the building contained agricultural products for future sale. Damage was estimated at $10,000.

No injuries were reported.

Cheswold firefighters responded to the blaze.
