SUMMIT BRIDGE, DELAWARE (1/18/2014) A 52-year-old man was seriously injured this morning when his truck went off Red Lion Road (Route 71) into a ditch and struck a tree, authorities said.
The accident happened about 9:40 a.m. near Old Summit Road, said Sgt. Michael A. McColley of New Castle County paramedics.
The man was trapped in the pickup and had to be extricated by firefighters from Volunteer Hose Company.
He was treated by paramedics for a chest and shoulder injury and taken by ambulance to Christiana Hospital in Stanton.
State police are investigating the crash.
