MILFORD, DELAWARE (1/17/2015) A 27-year-old man has been charged in connection with a month-long burglary spree, city police said Friday.
Xavier Rivera was arrested Friday after he was released from Bayhealth Milford Memorial Hospital, where he had been taken Jan. 7 after jumping from a third-floor window at the Valley Run Apartments in an attempt to flee from police, Detective Dwight Young said. Rivera suffered serious leg injuries.
Rivera faces more than 40 charges including burglary, theft, attempted theft and criminal mischief in connection with burglaries at 15 homes between Dec. 5 and Jan. 7 throughout Milford.
Rivera entered several homes while the occupants were inside sleeping or awake in a different room, Young said, removing Christmas gifts, money and other items.
Rivera was being held at Sussex Correctional Institution in lieu of $160,000 secured bond.
