DOVER, DELAWARE (1/16/2015) Delaware farmers posted record corn and soybean harvests for 2014, according to a U.S. Department of Agriculture report.
Soybeans posted record yield numbers, and for the second year in a row corn raised for animal feed achievedĀ record production and yield.
“Delaware’s corn and soybean harvests were simply outstanding,” said Delaware Secretary of Agriculture Ed Kee in a written statement. “This record year is the direct result of the combination of excellent weather, modern applied science drawn from years of research and our farmers’ hard work. This is great news for our grain growers and the poultry industry, which uses the majority of Delaware’s grain for feed. We hope this trend will continue.”
