Crash on Maryland Avenue sends 2 kids to hospital

WILMINGTON, DELAWARE (1/13/2015) A crash on Maryland Avenue west of Wilmington this morning sent two small children to a hospital, according to reports from the scene.

Shortly after 10 a.m., a four-door Mazda sedan and a Jeep Cherokee collided near Elmhurst Place.

Two adults in the car declined treatment and two small children were taken to Nemours/A.I. DuPont Hospital for Children in Rockland.

Sgt. Michael McColley of New Castle County paramedics said a 5-year-old boy had cuts to his head and was in stable condition. A 1-year-old girl had no obvious injuries but was taken to the hospital for evaluation in stable condition.

State police are investigating the crash.

Five Points, Belvedere and Cranston Heights fire companies responded.
