SMYRNA, DELAWARE (12/29/2014) A Smyrna man has been charged with obstructing firefighters who responded to a chimney fire, town police reported Sunday.
Citizens Hose Company firefighters called for assistance from police about 7:30 p.m. Dec. 22 in the 500 block of Smyrna Clayton Blvd., Cpl. Brandon Dunning said.
Eric Hyney, 44, was inside the home and failed to comply with firefighters and was obstructing their operations, Dunning said.
Hyney also ignored requests by police and walked farther into the home, Dunning said.
He was taken into custody and charged with resisting arrest and obstructing firefi9ghting operations, Dunning said, and released on $500 unsecured bond.
