Newport-area shooting victim, 22, dies

NEW CASTLE COUNTY, DELAWARE (12/13/2014) A 22-year-old man wounded Friday night in the Cedar Heights community northwest of Newport died of his wounds, county police said this afternoon.

Thomas Fergusen, of the 2900 block of W. 3rd St. in Wilmington, was found lying on the ground at Walnut and Maple avenues about 9:40 p.m.

He was taken by ambulance to Christiana Hospital and was pronounced dead just after 11 p.m.

Police said their initial investigation found Fergusen was involved in a dispute with a group of men and he was shot as he attempted to flee
