LAUREL, DELAWARE (12/11/2014) A 78-year-old man was assaulted, tied up and robbed in a home invasion southwest of Laurel early today, state police say.
The victim was asleep in a bedroom of the house in the 8000 block of Bacons Road when he was abruptly awakened about 2 a.m. by a man striking him on the head with an unknown object.
Another male rummaged through the victim’s belongings looking for money.
Once they found cash, police said, the pair fled.
The victim was able to walk to the living room where a male tenant was sitting and inform him of what happened. When authorities arrived, the victim declined medical treatment.
Police said they think the victim was targeted and it was not a random act.
