I-95, DELAWARE (12/7/2014) A 37-year-old woman was killed when she was struck by two vehicles while she was walking on southbound I-95 at the Route 1 flyover ramp near Christiana Mall, state police said.

The accident happened about 7:10 p.m.  Saturday.

The victim was identified as Laura Grant of Oxford, Pennsylvania. Police have not explained why she was walking on the interstate.

Police said Hyunjun Koo, 37, of Newark, was driving a 2008 Honda Accord southbound in the far left lane just south of the Route 1  flyover ramp when the car struck the pedestrian, who was vaulted onto the hood and windshield before landing in the road.

She was then struck by a 2008 Suzuki SX4 driven by Timothy N. Hoxter, 62, of Newark.

The pedestrian was pronounced dead at the scene.

Both Koo and Hoxter were able to bring their vehicles to a controlled stop, police said. The drivers and a 63-year-old passenger in Hoxter’s car were not injured. All were wearing seat belts.

Traffic was backed up for about 3 hours as police investigated.
